The best strategy: park once at your rental or a garage and walk or Uber. Uptown is walkable enough that you should not need to move your car for most restaurant, bar, and Balboa Park trips.

- Park once at your rental and walk or Uber. Uptown is walkable — do not drive between Hillcrest and North Park when you can walk it in 20 minutes.

- Side streets one block off University Ave (Hillcrest) and 30th Street (North Park) are your best bet for free parking.
- During Pride week (July), park at your rental and use Uber/Lyft. Street closures and crowds make driving in Hillcrest impractical.
